The versatility of men's polo necks
THE VERSATILITY OF MENS POLO NECKS
Whether you call it a polo neck, a roll neck or a turtleneck, there is no certainty of the origin of such a jumper. A quick google suggests that they were created to protect the necks of knights wearing chainmail, although somehow, I doubt these were anything like todays polo necks… Anyway, I’m here to show you how you can shine in a polo neck as a knight shines in armour.
WHO SUITS A POLO NECK
Polo necks can of course be one by anyone. However, we think that are particular style differences some people suit better than others. We think that smaller sized men are the best at pulling off a slim fitting tight polo neck and that larger men suit a looser style. Remember this is just our opinion and you should wear whatever you want...
SMART OCCASIONS
Below we have two examples of smarter ways to wear a polo neck. The first with a jacket/blazer which makes for a more classic look. The second with a tweed overcoat, suit trousers and Chelsea boots making for a more adventurous approach to smarter occasions.
CASUAL
As shown below by actor John Berthnal a polo neck looks great with a denim jacket, or any other similar style of jacket you may have lying around. The other example shows a man wearing his cashmere polo neck jumper with chinos and brown brogues making for a smart-casual look.
STREEWEAR
Once again, I’ve included this category to demonstrate that a polo neck can be incredibly versatile. Wear your polo neck with suit trouser and white sneakers for a high-end urban look.
