TIPS FOR SHOPPING SECOND HAND

Benefits of shopping second hand

Shopping second hand is something we strongly encourage here at Nearly New Cashmere. Around £140m of clothing goes to Landfill in the UK each year and shopping second hand is one of the many ways we can help bring this number down.

Tips

Second hand shopping can be daunting and at times overwhelming. Sometimes it feels impossible to find what you’re looking for and you don’t know where to look!

Online

eBay, Vestiaire Collective and Depop are some of the top suggestions here at Nearly New Cashmere. eBay is a classic which we’ve all used, many of us may have even sold on eBay before as it sells everything. Vestiaire Collective is focused on fashion and is where you should shop if you’re looking for something unique, vintage and luxury. The prices can still be very high here as most of it is designer… Depop covers all price ranges with a focus on clothing.

Be patient

It can take months if not years to find that perfect piece. But equally so you might discover something you never even considered!

Be open minded

Like I said above, you never know what you might find so keep an open mind and try new things that you otherwise wouldn’t have considered.

Face to face

People often forget about charity shops and vintage clothing shops which have become hugely popular in the last few years. There’s no better feeling than finding a gem… the shoes section is often worth checking! Take a measuring tape too in case they don’t have fitting rooms.

Check the seller takes returns

If not you might want to reconsider your purchase but at the same time don’t let this put you off completely, you can always sell the item on if it doesn’t work out!
