Kin Tsugi in the Dales – The art of embracing imperfect objects
Kin Tsugi in the Dales – The art of embracing imperfect objects
Ever heard of “Kin Tsugi”?
It’s the word given to the Eastern tradition of ceramic repair. “Kin” means Gold and “Tsugi” means Joinery, literally meaning to join with gold – it’s where broken ceramics come to life again through a lacquer and gold repair.
The object then becomes even more covetable, due to the trials of repair and the expert craftsmanship required to put it back together.
Fascinating isn’t it?
We just love this totally wholesome, innovative and creative approach to damaged objects and we feel that our Susan is in her own way performing the very same magic upon our imperfectly perfect pieces.
Susan is our chief seamstress and transforms our pieces in need of a little love and attention with her beautiful sewing abilities – a stitch here, a patch there, Susan breathes life into our once damaged garments making them whole again and ready for their new owner.
